We are not focusing on the specified topics. It’s up to you what kind of story you’d like to share. We are open for all nature of storytelling – from travel adventures with backpack to ambitious documentary projects. To make your article looks perfect we prefer to use some of our tips.
Because HitchHiker is an international project, we decided to publish stories in English. It’s simply the most widespreaded language and by using it we have te best chance to reach worldwide audience. The style of expression depends only on you and it should be your trademark, unless we prefer the form to be more like an article than a blog post. We value the amazing stories described in the most thoughtful way.
Pay attention to the correct stylistics and spelling, split the text into chapters and give them titles. These few little things will be very helpful for our designers. We usually publish stories about 1000 to 2000 words long, but if you have an idea for a different form, we are open for your suggestions. Please send us plain text without formatting – split it into chapters only, just like we mentioned above.
If you’re here then you’re probably a photographer or you love traveling, and the camera is your faithful commute on trips. We want to show your projects to people who love to explore the world and meet new people. The quality and content of the photos you send us are very important, because in addition to the publication on the website, we can invite you to participate in the printed edition of the HitchHiker Magazine. We are waiting for a series of photographs from both personal journeys and ambitious documentary observations.
The number of photos is not strictly determined. Usually we take from 5 to 20 photos, but if you have justification for a smaller or larger number, we will deal with it. The technical requirements are as follows: JPG Files with minimum compression, 2000px on the longer side, 300dpi, sRGB, files should be compressed to RAR or ZIP archive. In addition to photos, a short description of the project and optional signatures for individual photos will be useful. We care about the beautiful display of your pictures and we hope our tips will help you prepare your work as it should. Furthermore, if you need support in coloring and processing, you can use our Lightroom and Adobe Camera Raw presets, which are dedicated to various types of travel photography. You need to pay for them a little, but now it’s the only thing which helps us keep HitchHiker alive.
We love this form of communication, that’s why we created a separate section for Videostories. Here you have a space where you can publish a short clip from a backpacking trip, nostalgic video inspired by nature or a documentary about the life of indigenous people, environmental problems or just about surfers from California. For us, the most important thing is to make beautiful stories edited in a conscientious and interesting way that will inspire the audience of HitchHiker.
Due to better performance, we publish works hosted on Vimeo and YouTube, so you can just paste a link to your video in the application form. Do not forget to send us a description of your project, and if more people are involved in the production, please add credits about the music author, editing, etc.
And if you need some color grading support, we’ve created HitchHiker Colors 3D LUTs which works with the most of popular editing software and match our photo presets for Lightroom and Adobe Camera Raw, so you’ll be able to edit your videos and photos with the similar color tones.
So, if you are a photographer, videographer or you just have a gift to write stories, you love to travel, discover new places and meet fascinating people – you are one of us! We’ll be pleased to publish your work for HitchHiker Community. Just go the form below to submit your amazing story!
